Send our luggage via Cargo (we’ll each have over 60kg of luggage). Our luggage goes a few days earlier and then well collect it a few days after we arrive in Kathmandu.
Flying via Dubai to Kathmandu, Nepal Capital city, to delight in the colourful city for a few days while we tie up loose ends, repack while we now have our cargo luggage, buy the last minute items, become a tourist for the day and simply eat Dal Bhat, or anything else your palate desires.
Down to business we’ll fly to Lukhla, 2800m, one of the worlds most dangerous landing strips. After having survived this we’ll be sorting out luggage before starting our Expedition by walking to Phakding, 2500m. (Making sure that all our luggage has arrived in Lukhla as it goes on a number of different planes and will then will be transported directly to Base camp via helicopters and yaks)
Our next day we’ll walk to the upbeat town of Namche Bazar,3440m here we stay for two nights with the second day being a day to acclimatize as we walk to a higher altitude, as well as looking at the school and hospital started by Sir Hillary. If were really lucky and Everest is in the mood will catch a glimpse of her.
Day 4 will be to Tengboche 3867m, where we get to view the Yeti skull and entranced by monks praying in the monastery, and hopefully more views of Everest.
With the air thinning and the temperature plummeting we’ll stop in Pheriche 4240m, and spend another 2 nights are spent here for acclimatization, with us doing an acclimatization walk on our second day. The principle being climb high and sleep low to acclimatize appropriately.
A long but sacred day will bring us to Lobuche, 4930m, well find great hospitality here at very basic accommodation
Gorak Shep 5160m, this isn’t a favourite of the climbers with many getting sick but one more sleep to go!!!
Everest Base Camp, our home away from home.
We will stay in EBC to acclimatize await various activities to take place, one is a holy ceremony ,Puja , we’ll do more acclimatization hikes to the nearby Pumori advanced Base camp (5900m) and our Sherpa will carry equipment to the higher camps in preparation.
